You might have noticed that I have been extremely quiet on the food blogging front these days. Please excuse my lack of updates as my wife and I are counting down the days til our lives will be changed forever with the arrival of life's most precious gift. Since June will be a month of confinement for the both of us, my wife decided to book a very early birthday celebration for me at The MAB vs Foodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12088028017908431845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1270989548558536746.post-19582369645763162472015-03-22T21:49:00.001+11:002015-09-25T08:43:25.739+10:00LuMi Bar & Dining, Pyrmont - 20 March 2015
LuMi Bar & Dining has been on my radar well before its opening in September last year. I don't keep my love for Ormeggio at the Spit a secret, where LuMi owner and executive chef, Federico Zanellato, was head chef for 4 years before leaving to open his own venture with restauranteur, Bill Drakopoulos. Paul Jennings was one of my favourite authors growing up (remember that hilarious TV series from your childhood, Round the Twist?). Paul Jennings also happens to be a childhood favourite of Ryan Flaherty (ex Fat Duck, El Bulli and Estelle). My wife and I have wanted to make a return visit to Ume Restaurant for quite some time following our memorable lunch back in August 2013. We decided to drop by for lunch last weekend after a stop at our new favourite coffee place, Artificer Speciality Coffee Bar and Roastery, which is just across the road from Ume. Happy new year everyone!
2014 has just passed and what a year it has been! Looking back now, I've only started to realise how much fantastic
food I was lucky enough to eat last year (as well as how much I've yet to have a chance to write about)!

A nice (fancy) lunch on Xmas Eve has become a yearly tradition for my wife and I to kick off Xmas festivities. In previous years we have been to The Bridge Room and Azuma for Japanese style high tea, this year we decided to check out the lunch menu at Rockpool.
Readers may be aware that Rockpool is one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney. I was in Melbourne a couple of weeks ago with 2 other colleagues for a business trip. The only time we got to relax was after our client meetings, so we decided we should reward ourselves with a nice meal after a hard day's of work. The task of deciding where to eat invariably falls to me (not surprisingly being a food blogger). I wasn't planning on visiting Minamishima. In fact I had never heard of Minamishima til the weekend before I flew down to Melbourne for a business trip. "No ramen. No life"
Such is the motto of the new kid on the (ramen) block, Yasaka Ramen. Now this is a motto that I subscribe to. Ramen is my go-to dish when I am looking for something cheap, comforting and delicious. I probably eat it too often during my lunch breaks, but how can anyone not resist this delightful bowl of noodles? As you can see, a life without ramen would be rather sad for MAB vs Foodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12088028017908431845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1270989548558536746.post-34883724069723385952014-11-30T20:45:00.000+11:002015-09-25T08:34:06.727+10:00Sushi E, Sydney CBD - 21 Nov 2014
It's no secret that I love sushi. After discovering Sokyo's sushi omakase menu last month, I was keen to uncover more gems on the Sydney sushi scene. My next venue in my quest to find the best sushi venues in Sydney takes me to Merivale's upmarket sushi bar, Sushi E, which is located in level 4 of The Establishment Hotel.

Sushi is my favourite food. Nothing gets me most excited than sushi. People that know me will know that I have a love affair with Japan. The country, the culture, the people, and of course, the food. I have been to Japan numerous times and the highlight of each trip is always the sushi (here's my write up of Sushi Tanabe in Hokkaido to see an example of what I mean).
